October, 2009
I thought last year had the worst weather we've ever seen, but 2009 beat that record. Our great crew of manager, Terra Dumas, and apprentices, Sarah, Zack, Annie, and Anya, were able to keep Darthia Farm a sustainable operation.
Darthia Farm has been certified by Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association for 30 years and we've seen many changes and hosted over 200 apprentices. Many of them are now operating their own farms. We have a CSA (community supported agriculture) program, a busy farm store, and participate in a farmers' market in Winter Harbor. Terra is leaving for new horizons and Lily Montgomery will be our new farm manager.
We have some great new items this year and a few changes on old favorites. Our fruitcake is back this year. And in addition to the indigo and natural brown yarn, we're including a skein of madder dyed yarn. Due to customer response, we'll go back to decorating our wreaths with rose hips.
You are able to order completely on line. Check out our order page.
We hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and peaceful winter.
Hope to see you at the farm next summer.
