Letter from Darthia Farm / October 2011

October, 2011

What a fabulous season this has been! Perfect weather for growing, lots of customers, wonderful crew.

Thanks to our apprentices for their help in keeping Darthia Farm a sustainable operation.

Darthia Farm has been certified by Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association for 33 years and we've seen many changes and hosted over 200 apprentices. Many of them are now operating their own farms.

We have a CSA (community supported agriculture) program, a busy farm store, and participate in a farmers' market in Winter Harbor.

You are able to order from our Holiday Catalog completely online now, using the order form on this website.

We hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and peaceful winter.

Hope to see you at the farm next summer.

Bill & Cynthia, Dave, Jess, & Eulen, Kate, Taylor, Chris, Dan, Tim and Sally - our Fjords, Gus - our Haflinger, Lydia, retriever extrordinaire, and her best friend, Zukie.

And this is our crew!

Yes. Sometimes they're silly, but most of the time they're working really hard growing food for our customers. We have a CSA (community supported agriculture), a very busy farm store, summer workshops on aspects of farming and other activities.

We sell chicken, turkey, lamb, beef. Bill cuts and bales all the hay we need for our horses, cattle, sheep.

Each year we accept 3 - 4 apprentices for the growing season. They come from all walks of life, all ages, and with all different reasons to spend time farming.
