Update from the Gardens

Three nights in a row where temperatures were in the mid 30's!  The weather shift and potential for heavy frost meant a lot of activity for those of us that were here at the farm this past weekend.  We harvested our onions and shallots, winter squash and pumpkins, and any ripe paste tomatoes.  We don't have the same kind of onion harvest we did last year, but after two off years for winter squash, we finally have a decent haul.  We did end up with a significant widespread frost, but only in the lower parts of the farm.  The young greens we planted a few weeks ago are loving the weather and we are just starting to thin out the pac choi, daikon radish, and napa cabbage.  You will most likely see pac choi in the store next week.  Leeks, beets, carrots, and celery root are loving the cold nights as well.
