Update from the Gardens
We've swung full circle to the height of summer heat this past week. This means that the scales are tipping on the tomato patch and we are seeing more ripening every day. It also means that the squash and beans have put out a great deal of fruit this past week. We ripped out our pea vines, took down the trellis, and are preparing to cover crop that garden for the rest of the season to prepare for winter and next year. Our raspberry plants that were planted last year have put out their first bit of fruit. If we can care for them right, it looks like we'll have a good bit of berries next year. Patches of wild blueberries throughout rocky meadow edges around the farm are looking full of ripe berries. This is a time that seemed like it would never come when we were living in our rain suits 2 months ago. We are thankful that it is here and we are in the summer daily harvest mode.
