Update from the Gardens
Every day is a treasure hunt here right now. Cedar loves going hunting for watermelons while some of us are hunting for dry flowers and herbs to hang and preserve, broccoli for eating and freezing, tomatoes for sauce and drying, apples for sauce, butter, and cider... The continued mild weather and regular rains means steady growth for the storage carrots which are sizing up beautifully. We did have a frost on the farm in the lowest parts of the hayfields, but none in the gardens. The first cauliflower is opening and the red cabbage has headed up nicely. Sometimes our eyes are much bigger than our bellies when we are gathering foods for our meals, but it is hard to resist right now.
