Update from the Gardens
I don't know how some of these seeds do it. Dry beans like Marfax and Jacob's Cattle, and Summer Squash like Costata Romanesca have germinated and emerged strong towards the sunlight without more that a 3 minute shower of rain. Late, unexpected frost has killed off some eggplant that I had interplanted with the potatoes and also damaged a bunch of basil seedlings that were just about ready to be transplanted to the gardens. These basil plants that were stripped of all leaves and reduced to a sad looking stalk, have since started to put out new lateral growth and show hope for a long lived basil season. As the moon waxes toward full, we work to get our winter squash and sweet corn planted into the gardens.
