Update from the Gardens
We finally got a bit of rain to help the gardens along. Potato plants are perking up, green beans and dry beans are leafing out, summer squash has emerged and has true leaves, and the leafy greens like kale and chard are sizing up. With the full moon and full sun exposure as we approach solstice time, our tomatoes are growing like crazy with lots of blossoms and baby fruit. Even the strawberries have little green strawberries. In our Road garden, we've got our winter squash and pumpkins planted and covered by floating row cover to protect the emerging plants from cucumber beetles. We interplanted radishes and nasturtium with the squash this year to try and disuade cucumber beetles and squash bugs from making their home in our garden patches.
