One of my favorite summer meals is pasta with raw tomato sauce. It takes minutes to make and is delicious. 3 or 4 tomatoes a couple of cloves of garlic - or not handful of parsley big handful of basil salt and pepper 1/2 cup olive oil. Put tomatoes, garlic, parsley, basil, salt and pepper in food processor or chop with knife. Add olive oil and process. Don’t process too much. We are approaching the full moon of August and it is showing in the gardens.  The tomatoes have started to ripen faster and more fully, the zucchini are surprising us with the size they put on over night, and the first red color is showing in the pepper patch.  The flowers we planted in the flower garden have started to fill out and blossom after a very challenging wet start to their life.  Look out for bouquets made by Harbor, Cedar, and Liz in the store.  Visit the milkweed patch when you come to the farm and check out all the...

Head Lettuce - This cooler August weather has favored a late planting of head lettuce and we will have some of these heads in the store this week.  An essential part of summertime tomato pesto and lettuce sandwiches, or the classic BLT. Chard - Our first planting of chard failed in the early season from flooding and colder temperatures.  We are now starting to pick from our second planting and it's looking much better.  Great for steaming as a side or adding to your favorite saute.

This is a great time of year for easy meals right out of the garden. One of my favorites is this one: Slice a tomato and a cuke. Arrange on a small plate/platter. tear a few basil leaves for the top. Add some sliced fresh garlic and a few chopped scallions. Pour a little olive oil and vinegar over the top. Serve with a nice bread and you have the perfect summer meal.   And try this easy idea for zucchini; Toss 1/2 inch zucchini slices with olive oil, salt and pepper, some chopped fresh herbs, and about 2 Tbls....
