Summer Squash - We have an assortment of green zucchini, yellow zucchini, yellow crookneck, Italian ribbed, and patty pan squash to grace your grill and please your pans. Tomatoes - Various sizes and colors of delicious heirloom tomatoes are available at a first come first serve basis.  Available starting Wednesday. Basil - Just ask and we will harvest for you.  This herb doesn't hold up well once it is cut so we'd rather get it fresh.  Available starting Wednesday.

Ground hog families have been nibbling all sorts of garden goodies this week.  Our parsnip planting was chomped to the ground, the outer leaves of the latest parsley planting have become the choice herbs of these rodents, and one full planting of head lettuce has had a buzz cut.  We have had much better success trapping them this week and I have confidence the parsley and lettuce will bounce back.  Bill has been a huge help in keeping these hungry friends at bay.  Yellow jackets moved into the dye shed and I had to remove their nest before they got...

Summer squash on its own doesn’t have a lot of flavor, so it’s the perfect vehicle for some other deliciousness. My favorite way to cook summer squash is to cut it in half, lengthwise, brush it with some garlic scape flavored oil, and grill on both sides until browned and tender. Then I slather it with goat cheese and pesto. The gardens have been hot and the growth continues to astound us.  Tomatoes are beginning to ripen on their vines in the hoop house!  With the last big plantings of the year ready to go in the ground, we were hesitant because of all the dry heat we were getting.  However, with a good chance of rain this past Friday, we planted all of our autumn brassicas (broccoli, cabbage, brussels, cauliflower), and our storage roots (carrots and beets) in the cooler evening on Thursday as the sun was setting.  Rain did arrive on Friday and our gardens are now all filled...
